Credentials and Health Promotion Philosophy

Having graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I have been a practicing RN working within the healthcare industry for almost 20 years. During my career, I specializing in Adult, Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care/ICU. I was a nursing supervisor at two addiction treatment centres and collaborated with local police on a child abuse team working with families suffering from trauma, mental health and addiction issues. I later transitioned my career into End of Life Care and was employed as a RN at two local Hospice facilities and worked within the community as a Palliative Case Manager.

By 2021 I had enough of the politics of health care. I realized I could take my two decades of nursing experience, passion for functional root-cause medicine and somatic trauma work to offer services that aligned with my core values. I changed gears to focus solely on developing a private practice and growing my business at the Lighthouse Holistic Wellness Centre.

In September 2022, I graduated with the Comprehensive Holistic Nurse Coaching Certification, an accredited program recognized by the Canadian Nurses Association and endorsed by the Canadian Holistic Nurses Association. I am now furthering my expertise as a holistic body-based health professional as a Manual Osteopathic Therapist. I am currently enrolled as a full-time student at the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada and will be certified practitioner by the end of 2024.

Currently, my private practice specializes in working with veterans who are struggling with (c)PTSD, chronic pain or end of life. As well as, working with the general public as the Somatic Nurse Coach. I offer private 1:1 integrative somatic healing sessions, mindful somatic group events and a variety of health and wellness workshops. I am a certified Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath® Professional, an Integrative Somatic Trauma Practitioner and now a Lymphatic Drainage Therapist through the Chikly Health Institute. I also hold a variety of certifications including: Traumatic Stress Studies taught by Bessel van der Kolk, Applied Polyvagal Theory in Yoga taught by Stephen Porges, Sensorimotor techniques with Pat Ogden, Level III Somatic Parts Work with Frances Booth, RYT 300 Hour, Therapeutic Yin Yoga, Usui & Karuna Reiki, various breathwork techniques and Spring Forest QiGong for Health. The most powerful healing tool I draw upon in my practice is my skill as a Sound Therapist, specializing in the vibrational healing resonance of Gongs, Quartz Crystal & Tibetan Singing Bowls and a variety of other sound tools.

Although I see great benefit in emergency & critical care Western medicine, my true health promotion philosophy aligns with the practice of root cause investigation with a holistic lens. My approach to coaching BodyMind healing focuses on holistic assessments, psychoeducation and somatic body-based therapies. I find it empowering for clients to develop their sense of agency in order to take ownership of their wellness. This is achieved by learning about and addressing the foundations of health which include: sleep hygiene, healing leaky gut issues, consuming non-inflammatory, nutrient dense foods, improving drainage pathways and strengthening organ health for safe and effective detoxing of common pathogens found in today's toxic environment.
