My Credentials & Health Promotion Philosophy

Having graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I have been a practicing RN working within the healthcare industry for almost 20 years.  During my career, I specializing in Adult, Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care.  I was a Nursing Supervisor at two Addiction Treatment Centre's and collaborated with local police on a child abuse team working with families suffering from trauma, mental health and addiction issues.  I later transitioned my career into End of Life nursing, one of my biggest passions.  I was employed as a RN at local Hospice facilities and worked within the community as a Palliative Case Manager.

By 2021 I had enough of the politics of health care.  I realized I could take my two decades of nursing experience, love of functional medicine and somatic trauma work to offer services that aligned with my core values.  I changed gears to focus solely on developing a private practice and growing my business at the Lighthouse Holistic Wellness Centre.  In September 2022, I graduated from the Canadian Institute of Integrative Nursing Development and Education with the Comprehensive Holistic Nurse Coaching Certification, an accredited program by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and endorsed by the Canadian Holistic Nurses Association (CHNA) & Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI).

I now work in private practice, specifically working with Veterans who are struggling with PTSD, Chronic Pain or at End of Life, or in my role as a Holistic Nurse BodyMind Coach, offering private coaching or registered group healing programs for the general public.  I am a certified Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath Professional and an Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy practitioner.  I also hold a variety of certifications in Complementary Alternative Modalities (CAMs) and often weave together these skills throughout each session.  Some of which include: 300Hr RYT, Applied Polyvagal Theory in Yoga, Sensorimotor techniques, Therapeutic Yin Yoga, Usui & Karuna Reiki, various Somatic Breathwork techniques and Spring Forest QiGong for Health.  The most powerful healing tool I draw upon in my practice is my skill as a Sound Therapist, specializing in the Vibrational Healing Resonance of Gongs, Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls and a variety of other sound tools.

Although I see some benefit in Western Medicine, my true health promotion philosophy aligns with the practice of root cause medicine with a holistic lens.  My approach to coaching BodyMind healing focuses on holistic assessments, psychoeducation and somatic body-orientated therapy's while also addressing the Foundations to Health like:

sleep hygiene, healing leaky gut with non-inflammatory ‘fuel’ choices, improving drainage pathways and organ health for safe and effective detoxing of pathogens commonly found in our toxic environments.

Why Work with a Holistic Nurse Coach?

I am going to go out on a limb here and say 1) The current healthcare system is outdated and ineffective in creating lasting wellness and 2) Your health is not owed to you; it’s earned.

Is that statement difficult to read? Well, hear me out.

In the changing climate that is our healthcare system, it’s important for the public to recognize that personal agency and self advocacy is fundamental to achieving long lasting health outcomes.  Not all medical practices or practitioners are created equal.  Remember, healthcare is a business—even in Canada—If your services are not meeting consumer expectation and you continue to have mystery symptoms, don't feel heard by your current healthcare team, feel overburdened by medications with no relief, then you have the obligation to speak up for yourself.  You are worthy of living a fulfilled life and owe it to yourself to find another avenue toward sustainable health if the current one is not working.

To see results, it is essential to have the serious intention to be at the forefront of your unique healing journey.  Being informed and making educated decisions that connect you to your core values is an ongoing inside job.

Does it feel overwhelming or impossible to try to figure it out on your own? Of course it does! But this is where the role of a Holistic Nurse Coach could be of benefit to you.  I fully understand how intimidating the healthcare industry appears, how hard it can be to advocate for yourself when you are unwell, frustrated and struggling to gain your quality of life back.  I also understand the financial burden of seeking out alternative treatments, but working with me can help lesson that stress.  Healing does not have to be complicated or break the bank.

We can work together to discover what your core concerns are, highlight your strengths and apply my background in root cause investigation and nervous system regulation to co-create a doable action plan that gently moves you towards your healing goal.

Healing is possible and your voice matters to me; please reach out for your Free 20-minute Discovery Call.
